Three Chinese ministries released together an announcement on examining iron and steel projects started from 2005, approving and disapproving of projects on the list, according to reports Thursday.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will lead the examination. The Ministry of Land and Resources will focus on checking whether they have over-used lands. The Ministry of Environmental Protection will check if the projects over-discharged pollutants.
Projects that are against the rules, no matter if they have been completed or not, will be liable to punishments, said the ministries.
This is the first time that the State Council asks NDRC to lead an examination on iron and steel projects.
