According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), American steel production for the week ending May 9, 2020 amounted to 1,204,000 tons, and production facilities were used at 53.7%. US steel production for the corresponding week of last year was 1,880,000 tons, and capacity utilization was 80.8%.
Thus, current production indicators showed a decrease of 36% compared to the previous year and an increase of 5.2% from the previous week (1,144,000 tons, 51.1%).
