USA: weekly steel production decreased by 30.2% compared to last year

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), American steel production for the week ending July 11, 2020 amounted to 1,289,000 tons, and production capacity was used at 57.5%. US steel production for the corresponding week of last year was 1,847,000 tons, and capacity utilization was 79.4%.

Thus, current production indicators showed a decrease of 30.2% compared to last year and an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous week (1,268,000 tons, 56.6%).
