According to Platts, the European Commission is to impose an anti-dumping duty of 4.6-7.8% on imports of some Turkish steel products from December 17 for the major Turkish steel producer Colakoglu.
The EC launched an anti-dumping investigation into the import of certain hot rolled flat products from Turkey in mid-May at the request of the European steel group Eurofer.
“The latest EU Commission decision on duties is another step towards blocking imports from Turkey,” said Colakoglu CEO Ugur Dalbeler. "Until Turkey responds to the EU with countermeasures, it looks like they will continue their steps in this regard."
Colakoglu is subject to the highest provisional duty of 7.6%, while Turkey's largest steel producer, Erdemir Group (Erdemir and Isdemir), has a 5.4% duty rate.
Habas has the lowest duty at 4.8%, while Borcelik and Agir Haddecilik have 5.9%. All other Turkish companies will have a provisional duty of 7.6%.
