According to Yieh.com, Brazil's Economy Minister for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness, Carlos da Costa, met with representatives of the country's metallurgical network.
At the meeting, the Brazilian Construction Chamber, which is one of the main buyers of steel, asked the government to reduce the tax on steel imports, saying that the price of steel is heavily imposed on the chain.
Last week, the chamber conducted a survey of 206 companies in the industry, 84% of which reported shortages of steel in their regions.
For the Brazilian Chamber of the Building Industry (CBIC), the solution was to increase supply, including through imports.
