The production of refined nickel in China in August amounted to 13.713 thousand tons, up 19.28%, or 2378 tons, more than in July. The operating load of nickel enterprises amounted to 67% in the indicated month. Most of the growth in production was provided by factories in Gansu, which resumed work after preventive maintenance. Xinjiang saw an increase in metal production for seasonal reasons.
According to the forecast of SMM experts, in September, the production of refined nickel in the PRC will amount to 14 thousand tons. Meanwhile, the nickel smelter in Jilin is scheduled to carry out maintenance in September and suspend operations, which will cause some reduction in total production. However, in other regions, nickel production is forecast to be stable.
