According to the data of the Chinese customs, in August, China imported 350 thousand tons of nickel pig iron, which is 24.4% more than in July, and 19.8% more in annual terms. In terms of nickel, the import of the material amounted to 52.1 thousand tons in August (+ 21.65% against July).
Pig iron imports in January-August amounted to 2.49 million tons.
Ferronickel imports amounted to 47 thousand tons in August (-9.1% against the results of July).
At the end of September, stable levels of imports of nickel pig iron are expected in the event of a decrease in the overstocking of ports.
