According to the World Steel Association (WSA), world steel production in August 2021 in 64 steel-producing countries amounted to 156.8 million tonnes, 1.4% less than in August 2020.
China, as promised, cut steel production in August, but remains the world's leading steel producer.
Steel production in Africa was at the level of 1.3 million tons (+ 38.2% against August 2020), Asia and Oceania reduced production to 112.7 million tons (-7.3%), the CIS countries increased to 8.8 million tons (+ 3.6%), EU countries increased to 11.6 million tons (+ 27.1%), other European countries produced 4.5 million tons (+ 11.7%), Middle East countries - 3.6 million tons (+ 10.9%), North American countries increased production to 10.2 million tons (+ 24.4%) and South American countries - up to 4.0 million tons (+ 17.2%).
Top 10 global steel producers in August: 1. China - 83.2 million tons (-13.2%). 2. India - 9.9 million tons (+ 8.2%). 3. Japan - 7.9 million tons (+ 22.9%). 4. USA - 7.5 million tons (+ 26.8%). 5. Russia - 6.3 million tons (+ 4.4%). 6. South Korea - 6.1 million tons (+ 6.2%) 7. Germany - 3 million tons (+ 6.7%). 8. Turkey - 3.5 million tons (+ 3.5%). 9. Brazil - 3.1 million tons (+ 14.1%). 10. Iran - 2105 million tons (+ 8.7%).
