According to the World Steel Association (WSA), the world steel production in 64 countries of the world-producers of metal products in September 2021 amounted to 144.4 million tons, which is 8.9% lower than the level of September 2020.
China, as the main steel producer in the world, in September reduced its production by 21.2% to 73.8 million tons.
Production in Africa amounted to 1.4 million tons (+ 51.0% compared to the previous year). Asia and Oceania produced 101.9 million tons (-14.6%). The CIS countries reduced steel production by 1% to 8.2 million tons. The EU countries produced 12.7 million tons of steel (+ 15.6%), the rest of Europe - 4.2 million tons (+ 4.3%). Steel production in the Middle East amounted to 2.2 million tonnes (-35.7%). In North America, steel production rose 19.2% to 9.8 million tonnes, while in South America it rose 17% to 3.9 million tonnes.
The top 10 global steel producers in September included: 1. China - 73.8 million tons (-21.2%). 2.India - 9.5 million tons (+ 7.2%). 3. Japan - 8.1 million tons (+ 25.6%). 4. USA - 7.3 million tons (+ 22.0%). 5.Russia - 5.9 million tons (-2.2%). 6. South Korea - 5.5 million tons (-5.0%). 7.Germany - 3.3 million tons (+ 10.7%). 8. Turkey - 3.3 mln. tons (+ 2.4%) 9. Brazil - 3.1million tons (+ 15.3%). 10.Iran - 1.3 million tons (-51.4%)
