According to the World Steel Association (WSA), world steel production in October 2021 in 64 producing countries amounted to 145.7 million tons, which is 10.6% less than in October 2020. China remains the leader in steel production with 71 , 6 million tons, although the country reduced production by 23% compared to last year.
In particular, African countries produced 1.4 million tons (+ 24.1%), Asia and Oceania - 100.7 million tons (-16.6%), CIS countries - 8.3 million tons (-0.2%), EU-27 countries - 13.4 million tons (+ 6.4%), other European countries - 4.4 million tons (+ 7.7%). In the countries of the Middle East, production amounted to 3.2 million tons (-12.7%), in North America - 10.2 million tons (+ 16.9%), in South America - 4 million tons (+ 12.1%).
Among the top 10 world steel producers, the following were noted: 1. China - 71.6 million tons (-23.3%). 2.India - 9.8 million tons (+ 2.4%). 3. Japan - 8.2 million tons (+ 14.3%). 4. USA - 7.5 million tons (+ 20.5%). 5.Russia - 6.1 million tons (-0.5%). 6. South Korea - 5.8 million tons (-1.0%) 7.Germany - 3.7 million tons (+ 7.0%). 8.Turkey -3.5 million tons (+ 8.0%). 9. Brazil - 3.2 million tons (+ 10.4%) 10. Iran - 2.2 million tons (-15.3%).
